The Story Behind KLM Cares
KLM Cares was founded by Keonna Mayo, MSN, RN, a Registered Nurse with over two decades of experience across ICU, trauma, cardio-thoracic care, long-term care, community health, and nursing education at the University level.
After years at the bedside, Keonna saw the same painful pattern over and over:
• Patients discharged still confused about their medications and instructions.
• Families terrified to bring loved ones home after major surgery.
• Seniors who wanted to stay independent but needed just a bit more support and advocacy.
• Nurses who cared deeply, but were stretched too thin to give the level of attention every person deserves.
KLM Cares was born from a simple belief:
“People heal better when they feel safe, seen, and supported.”
Keonna designed KLM Cares to provide the kind of care she wished every patient and family could receive—luxury-level service with a nurse’s heart and a teacher’s clarity.

Meet Our
Founder
From Survival to Service — The Heart Behind KLM Cares KLM Cares was born from a life shaped by resilience, faith, and purpose. Growing up in a single-parent home touched by addiction, our founder learned early the meaning of struggle, perseverance, and compassion. Becoming a teenage mother only strengthened her resolve to break barriers, create stability, and build a life of service through nursing. Through two decades of experience as an ICU nurse practicing in multiple areas of discipline, she witnessed the best and worst of the healthcare system — the moments of healing and hope, but also the neglect, lack of dignity, and gaps in education that left patients and families feeling lost and suffering injustices preventable and complicated. Those experiences sparked a new calling: to provide premium, compassionate care that restores dignity, empowers recovery, and keeps people well at home. Today, KLM Cares delivers concierge-level nursing and wellness support for seniors, and individuals recovering from illness or surgery — while the future KLM Cares Wellness Foundation will extend that same compassion into the community, promoting education, wellness, and independence for those who need it most. What began as one nurse’s mission to rise above adversity has grown into a movement of care, empathy, and empowerment — proof that with compassion and purpose, healing extends far beyond the hospital walls.
